Works as a Radiologic Technologist in Kimball, NE. Positions imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination. Interviews patient to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and to request removal of metal objects which are hazardous to patient and equipment. Monitor patients' conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to physician. Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil (receiver) such as head coil or knee coil, close to area of interest, following protocols requested by Radiologist. Demonstrates use of microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination. Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture of magnetic resonance imaging equipment (head or feet first), into computer. Keys commands to specify scan sequences, and adjust parameters as needed. Observes patient through window of control room and on closed circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort. Views images of area being scanned to ensure quality of images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Alerts staff entering magnet room to danger of wearing or carrying metal around magnet. Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician. Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed. Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside. Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology. One (1) year as a Radiologic Technologist. Certified and Registered (or eligible for certification and registration) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and Licensure (Or Eligible) in the State of Nebraska as Medical Radiographer.
