The Product Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the development of new product development projects in a collaborative team environment, own the layout and content of price lists and provide competitive analysis.
Roles And Responsibilities:
- Understand how decisions impact customer expectations and profitability.
- Provide leadership, direction and coordination of the project team. Must be “ahead” of team to anticipate needs and direction.
- Develop, manage, and execute to the project schedule.
- Must understand critical path of project. Must have ability to facilitate creative dialogue amongst team.
- Have a clear understanding of how decisions made in development can affect e-tools, price lists, marketing materials and customers overall.
- Develop, analyze and share competitive information for new products with product development teams. Responsible for any competitive analysis requests and update all Competitive At A Glance (CAAG) in SharePoint. Manage CAAG to ensure competitors remain valid or add new competitors for a particular product.
- Assist in establishing market pricing, sales volumes while understanding the overall project spend and the ROI.
- Provide input and references for appropriate positioning of new products within Kimball International portfolio, strategic market and within the competition knowing the niche’ where National will be successful.
- Travel in support of trade shows initiatives, market research and Meet-The-Truck opportunities for new product introductions.
- Own the content for price lists and specification guides with the assistance of the Product Line Manager and Project Manager. Also provide inputs for electronic marketing and specification tools for new product.
- Participate in all Tollgates; present competitive intelligence and overall marketing plan and/or any other area defined by the Product Line Manager.
- Own the task of responding to the reports to keep communication open to field sales team as well as reaching out for feedback or suggestions as needed.
- Assist in the review and input of marketing and launch materials.
- Assist in the successful growth of existing product series by providing input on potential enhancements to Product Line Managers.
- Provide recommendations of deletions to Existing Product Manager & Product Line Managers.
- Assist in handling the Engineering Change (EC) process for changes or additions to the portfolio with input from the Product Line Manager.
- Represent Kimball International on product/lean related teams that help improve and support product development.
- Continually improve the development process by finding new ways to work to ensure successful launches.
- To be a back-up presenter for customer tours, sales meetings and market shows and events.
- Backup for this position would be the Casegood and Seating Product Line Managers.
