What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environment, Health and Safety Manager position at Kimble Companies?
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs across Kimble Company and Kimble Recycling and Disposal, Inc. divisions. This leader will oversee compliance with DOT, MSHA, OSHA, ATF and other applicable regulations, while also managing a team of safety professionals, conducting audits, and reporting to regulatory agencies.
This is a strategic and hands-on role requiring strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and the ability to drive a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Staff Management
- Lead and manage all aspects of safety, ensuring effective training, development, and performance management.
- Oversee policies and safety practices across all company operations.
- Foster a culture of safety by collaborating with management and frontline employees to prioritize and implement best practices.
Regulatory Compliance & Policy Development
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, MSHA, OSHA, ATF and EPA standards.
- Develop, update, and enforce company-wide safety policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Serve as the liaison for regulatory agencies regarding safety compliance and reporting.
Audits, Reporting & Investigations
- Oversee and prepare all safety-related reports for submission to agencies and in-house shareholders, ensuring compliance with deadlines with accuracy.
- Lead the company’s safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, implementing corrective actions.
- Manage incident investigations, help determine root causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate recordkeeping systems for safety compliance, including training documentation, accident reports, and regulatory requirements.
Training & Employee Engagement
- Design and conduct safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and new hires, ensuring a thorough understanding of workplace safety. Work alongside the Training department to gain input and understanding.
- Implement company-wide safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency preparedness drills.
- Promote employee participation to strengthen engagement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 7 years of safety management experience within waste management, transportation, mining, or heavy equipment industry.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of MSHA, DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Experience conducting and leading audits, investigations, and regulatory reporting.
- Ability to develop and deliver safety training programs for diverse teams.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
