Position Tittle : Maintenance and Safety Supervisor
Working Hours : 6 AM to 2 : 30 PM (OT as Needed)
Working Days : Monday - Friday (Saturday's as Needed)
Pay Rate : $85,000 per year
Job Duties :
Facilities Maintenance
- Supervise assigned staff including establishing and communicating performance expectations, provide positive and constructive feedback, conduct performance reviews and determine training and development needs and make hiring and terminating decisions while conforming to company policies and procedures
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair to the physical structures and utility systems including cleaning, painting, electrical wiring, heating, and plumbing; the repair and maintenance of equipment including forklifts; and the maintenance of the outside grounds
- Inspect completed work for conformance to standards
- Requisition tools, machinery, equipment and maintenance supplies as needed
- Obtain bids and direct contracted projects to ensure adherence to specifications from outside contractors
- Review workloads, schedules, personnel assignments and the status of ongoing work and projects
Safety Functions
Operate as first contact for all workplace injuriesInvestigate all incidents and maintain Workers’ Compensation incident logsIssue and record distributions of personal protective equipment (PPE)Conduct daily walk through of plant monitoring compliance of safety rules while reporting infractions to the appropriate department manager and the Director of Human ResourcesMaintain the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)Present safety training materials and safety training videos to new hires at orientationReview, update and distribute lists of safety projects by departmentInspect and document hazardous waste area findings weeklyParticipate in weekly 5S’s inspection with Plant Manager and post resultsMonitor and replenish inventory of PPE and first aid suppliesInspect fire extinguishers monthly and certify the correct pressure on the gaugePrepare and submit monthly injury trend data to Workers’ Compensation carrierSchedule monthly Department Manager safety meetings to discuss safety violationsUpdate evacuation procedure, maps and team charts as needed and coordinate with Team LeadsDevelop, facilitate and foster a safety compliance reward systemCoordinate quarterly fire sprinkler system inspectionCollect and compile required data for OSHA log and post annuallyCoordinate annual Los Angeles County Fire Department inspections including CUPA, HazMat Generator Program, Fire Marshall inspection, and the Hazardous Material Division InspectionCoordinate annual backflow prevention assembly test by a certified plumberCoordinate annual fire sprinkler system test, inspection and certification as well as the fire alarm monitoring system annual test and inspectionProcess Cal-EPA verification questionnaire and manifest feesAssist in any security issues as neededPerform other related duties as assignedQualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience preferredSupervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferredBasic knowledge of construction, plumbing, electrical, repairs, and painting requiredOne year experience managing a safety program requiredProficient in Word, Excel and OutlookMust have ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writingBilingual in Spanish a plusSelf-motivated team player with the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environmentAbility to adhere to ethical principles that reflect the highest standards of organizational and individual behavior and comply with all laws and regulationsPossess effective organization and time management skills, be detail oriented, use good judgment, manage competing priorities for multiple projects and consistently meet all deadlinesAbility to work collaboratively with others and foster cooperative relationships and credibility at all levels of the organizationDemonstrated ability to follow through, have excellent problem solving skills, possess effective negotiation skills and be cost consciousValid California driver license and acceptable driver record requiredAbout Kimco / MediQuest / Advantex
