Overview
Our Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) office is looking for a Civil Operator or Designer with 8 years of experience to join our Roadway team!
Responsibilities
- Prepare complex roadway designs, including alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and grading plans, using AutoCAD Civil 3D , MicroStation, Open Roads or other relevant design tools.
- Develop and oversee the production of construction documents, including roadway plans, typical sections, drainage layouts, and traffic control plans.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and other design professionals to ensure design accuracy and project success.
- Interpret and apply design standards and guidelines, including AASHTO , DOT specifications , and local agency requirements.
- Conduct quality control reviews of design work and ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
- Participate in project scoping, cost estimation, and scheduling efforts.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams to resolve design challenges and coordinate deliverables.
- Maintains drawing database
- Coordinates work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
- Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn's practices, procedures, and standards
