Overview
Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Project Manager to expand our Public Involvement practice in Salt Lake City!
Responsibilities
- Lead with integrity and a deep understanding of public involvement practices, especially in the context of DOT projects and Utah’s transportation landscape
- Shape the strategic vision and business direction for public involvement initiatives, grounded in two decades of field-tested expertise
- Set clear, measurable goals that align with client expectations and agency requirements
- Cultivate and strengthen long-standing client relationships, with a focus on DOT's and other regional transportation partners
- Foster transparent communication with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment across all phases of project delivery
- Oversee public involvement efforts from planning through implementation, managing scope, schedule, and budget with a focus on community impact and stakeholder engagement
- Mentor and grow team members by transferring institutional knowledge, promoting best practices, and encouraging professional development
- Act as a visible leader and trusted advisor both internally and within the Utah public infrastructure community
- Operate with a high level of autonomy and ownership, with the opportunity to shape and grow the public involvement practice
Qualifications
15 years of progressive experience in public involvement, with a strong portfolio of work supporting DOT's or other transportation agencies in Utah
Proven leadership in planning and executing public outreach strategies for complex transportation projects
Deep understanding of NEPA processes, environmental documentation, and public involvement standards and expectations
Strong relationships within Utah’s transportation and infrastructure communities, including government agencies, consultants, and key stakeholders
Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear, accessible messaging for diverse audiences
Experience managing teams and mentoring staff across multiple projects and deadlines
Demonstrated ability to build client trust and manage long-term relationships
Familiarity with digital engagement tools and emerging trends in public outreach
Bachelor’s degree in communications, planning, public administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred but not required)
Willingness and ability to travel within Utah for project meetings and public engagement events
