Lead Estimator-Heavy Civil Construction

About the Company:

The company provides construction management to both the public and private sector specializing in public transit projects. They specialize in the oversight of General Contractors and Subcontractors and have been delivering complex projects with an emphasis on quality and safety while at the same time meeting budget and schedule goals.

About the Position:

Seeking a Lead Estimator to deliver cost estimating services for Civil Construction projects. This position shall report to the Project Controls Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver cost estimating services.
• Lead preparation of independent cost estimates for negotiating GMP, FFP and BAFO for the construction contracts during the negotiation phase and independent cost estimates for negotiating construction claims during construction phase.
• Develop and negotiate unit prices for items not in contract in the negotiation of claims.
• Review contractors' monthly payment applications. Independently obtain verification of physical percent complete of work and recommends payment application to LACMTA for approval.
• Lead and deliver the cost estimating scope of services
  
  

Requirements:

• Approximately 15 years' experience in estimating heavy civil engineering projects of similar size and complexity; experience working for a contractor is preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Experience on design-build; experience with progressive design-build delivery models is preferred.
• Experience leading negotiations for heavy civil contracts.
