JOB SUMMARY: KIMT-TV in Rochester, MN, seeks a dynamic News Reporter to produce engaging news and feature content, including stories, blogs, and other formats, based on original reporting or editorial assignments within North Central Iowa and Southeast Minnesota. The successful candidate will deliver this content accurately, clearly, concisely, and in an engaging manner for our broadcast and digital platforms.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish and expand a network of informational sources within the Rochester and KIMT viewing area to provide the station with a competitive edge in local newsgathering.
- Proactively develop compelling story ideas relevant to the Rochester, Mason City, Austin, and Albert Lea communities, including news, features, enterprise projects, and investigative reports.
- Conduct thorough research through local interviews, investigations, and observations to gather and analyze factual information on newsworthy events in the region.
- Compile accurate and compelling information for KIMT newscast presentations, with a focus on issues relevant to Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa.
- Deliver clear, creative, and accurate live reports from various locations within the KIMT viewing area, including Rochester and surrounding communities.
- Produce precise, comprehensive, and engaging news copy under deadline pressure, tailored for KIMT's audience in Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa.
Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Journalism or related field preferred, with minimum of (2) two years experience as news reporter.
