Job Summary:
KIMT-TV, the CBS and MyNetworkTV affiliate serving North Central Iowa and Southeast Minnesota, is seeking a driven and results-oriented Media Sales Account Executive to join our team in our Rochester, Minnesota office. In this role, you will be responsible for selling comprehensive media solutions across our broadcast and digital platforms to local, regional, and potentially national accounts within an assigned geographic territory. Your primary goal will be to achieve and exceed sales targets while maximizing revenue opportunities for KIMT-TV.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify, develop, and cultivate strong relationships with both existing and new clients, including key accounts within your designated territory.
- Maintain consistent and effective communication throughout the sales cycle, providing regular account updates, weekly revenue projections, and accurate forecasting of future advertising revenue.
- Conduct thorough research on target markets, industry trends, and competitive media landscapes to inform and adapt your sales strategies.
- Actively listen to and understand client needs and objectives, translating them into effective and tailored media solutions that meet their requirements.
- Develop and implement both short-term and long-term plans aimed at achieving significant revenue growth within your assigned accounts and territory.
- Skillfully negotiate advertising rates and terms, create compelling oral and written sales presentations, and develop innovative media packages to meet client goals.
- Diligently monitor and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely payments.
- Continuously research, analyze, and monitor competitive media outlets to identify new business leads and opportunities.
- Stay informed about and effectively communicate the benefits of KIMT-TV's broadcast and digital offerings, including online/digital and interactive advertising tools.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including sales management, marketing, and traffic, to ensure seamless campaign execution and client satisfaction.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding and ability to articulate the value of online/digital and interactive advertising tools to clients and colleagues.
- Exceptional oral communication, active listening, problem-solving, written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Professional demeanor, high energy level, and a proactive approach to sales.
- Self-confident, adaptable, and able to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Knowledge of Nielsen ratings and other media measurement tools is a significant advantage.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with a focus in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Previous experience in sales, preferably in media sales (television, digital, radio, print), is highly desirable.
Training/Equipment:
- Essential Software Proficiency Required:
- Microsoft Office Suite: Mastery of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is mandatory for creating proposals, reports, and presentations.
- Google Workspace: Comprehensive understanding and skill in using Google's suite of productivity tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) is also required for collaboration and internal communication.
- Additional training on industry-specific software, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, and other relevant tools will be provided as needed.
- You will be provided with a company laptop and other necessary equipment to perform your job duties effectively.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Regular travel within the assigned geographic territory will be required to meet with clients and prospects.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including occasional evenings or early mornings, may be necessary to meet client needs and deadlines.
- A valid driver’s license, state-mandated automobile insurance, and an acceptable driving record are mandatory.
