This position is posted at Kinder, LA as well as Franklinton, LA. There is only one opening and will only be filled at one location. Please apply to the location you prefer.

Primary purpose:

Responsible for supervising the regional Company Pipeline Damage Prevention program which includes line locating, programs for public awareness, coordinating work group activities including patrolling, locating, construction inspection, and excavation inspection of Company gas/liquids pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations, process plants and other related facilities.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for governmental compliance, safety programs, employee training and development, Operator Qualifications, budgets and personnel functions.
  • Supervisory responsibilities for a number of direct reports who have damage prevention responsibilities.
  • Supervisory responsibilities for a number of in-direct reports who have damage prevention responsibilities.
  • Plan, organize and oversee assigned work programs, including monitoring projects and employee work schedules and evaluating the performance of direct reports.
  • Audit and oversee documentation for accuracy with Class Locations, HCA areas, Maximo, Public Awareness Program, KMOC to maintain compliance requirements.
  • Proactive leadership, response, training and support for pipeline asset protection from encroachments.
  • Coordinates with Operations Supervisors to ensure damage prevention procedures and initiatives are in compliance.
  • Coordinates and participates in quality public awareness programs.
  • Coordinates and participates in quality contractor awareness programs.
  • Coordinates and participates in quality emergency responder programs.
  • Operations technical expert for, KMOC System and other associated applications.
  • One Call representation and participation.
  • Represent the Company during contacts with landowner/tenants, public officials, and emergency officials at local meetings. (One Call, Pipeline Groups, Soil Conservation)
  • Inspect/oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Trains Company and third party personnel as required.
  • Perform governmental compliance activities, such as line patrol, road and railroad crossing inspections, and valve inspections.
  • Identify report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Actively participate in safety programs, provide media and emergency support.
  • Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.
  • Complete appropriate documentation, OQ qualification and paperwork.
  • Ensure that all requirements of the Operator Qualification program are met or both company and contract employees.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements


Education:

  • High School diploma or GED.

Experience / specific knowledge:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in pipeline operations and maintenance.
  • Experience in training and instructing employees.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with both company and contract employees.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s license and driving record acceptable to company and insurer.
  • Achieve and maintain all OQ qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.
  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.

Competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operation systems and other company software).
  • Excellent math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs and other diagrams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Customer focus.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.
  • Inspect 3rd party construction as directed.
  • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Must reside within 30 miles of the reporting location.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work with others, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

Physical demands:

  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to 50 pounds and to see, hear, walk and talk effectively.
  • Must be able to frequently:
    • Enter confined spaces.
    • Climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.

Working conditions:

  • Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies after regular business hours.
  • Will be required to carry a company-provided cell phone/pager, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Depending on location and workload, travel will be required

  • Yes

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gas, liquids and high pressure systems.
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures and practices including common ground alliance.
  • Knowledge of operating costs associated with the labor and non-labor in area of responsibility.
