JOB DESCRIPTION
Special Education Instructional Aide
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent
REQUIRED FOR HIRE: Level I IVP Fingerprint Card
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: the Building Principal, under the immediate supervision of the classroom teacher.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform simple clerical tasks proficiently
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff, using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Ability to maintain discipline in all school settings
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff and students.
JOB STATUS:
- There is no tenure established in this position.
- This position is paid on an hourly basis and employment is for school days in session.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: There is a probationary period of ninety (90) days. At the end of that time, the employee will be evaluated by his / her supervisors. If the evaluation is favorable, the employee will continue to work for the District. An unfavorable evaluation will result in termination.
DUTIES:
- Aide teacher in preparing room for school.
- Help prepare and distribute lesson materials.
- Instruct students under teacher’s supervision.
- Keep classroom meat and orderly.
- Aide teacher in arranging bulletin boards.
- Supervise playground under teacher’s supervision.
- Assist with student records when asked.
- When necessary, supervise students in cafeteria.
- Aid in storing materials and getting classroom ready for closing of school.
- Performs other general duties as assigned.
GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be punctual in all assignments.
- Observe all District policies appropriate to this position.
- Accept the responsibility of assigned tasks.
- Comply with confidentiality guidelines.
- Attend training sessions required by Building Principal.
- Perform other general duties as assigned.
- Must have a valid IVP fingerprint card.
