Purpose
The Sibling Support Project is an international program dedicated to the life-long concerns of brothers and sisters of people with health, developmental, and mental health concerns. As the Program Specialist, you will work closely with the Director to help accomplish the Sibling Support Project’s strategic vision, including but not limited to assisting with Sibshop Facilitator Training and providing technical support for certified Facilitators around the world. The Program Specialist will help provide peer support and informational opportunities for siblings of people with health and developmental needs, and support initiatives to educate parents and service providers about siblings’ life-long and ever-changing concerns.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Help Expand Sibshops™ around the world:
· Support online and in-person Sibshop training to create new community-based Sibshops.
· Provide ongoing technical assistance to established Sibshops via quarterly Zoom meetings, webinars, email, phone calls, and closed social media groups.
· Help to develop and update curricular materials for the Sibshop model including refresher courses, toolkits, and other digital and print resources.
· Oversee and manage the registration and maintenance of Sibshops around the world.
· Market the Sibshop model and training on the Sibshop model to appropriate agencies nationally and internationally.
Provide siblings with peer support and information:
· Manage and moderate closed social media groups. Currently these include the closed Facebook pages: SibNet, Sib20, SibTeen, Washington State Sibling Connection, the Sibshop Facilitator Forum, and GKSN—Grandparents of Kids with Special Needs.
· Collaborate with social media co-hosts and co-moderators.
· Respond to phone calls and emails from siblings seeking information and refer them to appropriate resources.
Educate parents and service providers about siblings’ concerns:
· Support workshops on siblings’ issues for parents and service providers at conferences, as part of Sibshop facilitator trainings, and during online presentations.
· Help develop/update written materials about siblings for parents and service providers.
· Identify and support conference and other speaking/media opportunities to promote siblings and sibling support.
· Respond to phone calls and emails from parents and providers seeking information on sibling issues and refer them to appropriate resources.
Support Infrastructure of the Sibling Support Project:
· Maintain and update the Project’s website with support as needed (Wordpress).
· Maintain and update the Project’s Client Database (Mailchimp).
· Assist with communications including quarterly newsletters and social media.
· Support collaboration with other local, national, and international agencies serving siblings (e.g., the Sibling Leadership Network, The Arc).
· Collaborate with colleagues at the Project’s umbrella agency, Kindering.
· Help to assure the financial stability of the Sibling Support Project by supporting fundraising efforts in partnership with Kindering’s Advancement Department
· Provide administrative support for invoicing, contract execution, expense reimbursement, and scheduling as needed.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a Social Sciences field
· Understanding of disability and family systems is ideal
· Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating the development of projects and programs within time, cost and quality targets.
· Strong analytical and systemic thinking skills, with experience synthesizing information from many sources to develop recommendations.
· Advanced ability to identify problems, research solutions, and reduce impacts to work.
· Strong organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks and projects under deadlines, and to maintain detailed records.
· Experience in marketing, branding, online learning, data management and analysis.
· Experience overseeing grant requirements, including reporting and meeting deliverables/deadlines.
· Proficient in Microsoft programs, working knowledge of developing online tools/resources, and ability to source and partner with IT staff for more complex project needs.
· Calm under pressure; excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
· Experience and comfort with interacting with diverse populations.
· Strong teamwork skills.
· Ability to demonstrate reliability and punctuality.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
Minimum Prerequisites
· Pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint check
· Possess valid Washington State driver’s license and valid automobile insurance
· Have access to a dependable personal vehicle
· Pass tuberculosis test
Salary : $47,000 - $69,000
