The Senior Supply Chain Director is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the Supply Chain functions and activities within the Injectables & Global Health Security Business Unit, accountable for Sales & Operations Planning and Sales & Operations Execution; demand Planning and Scheduling; Warehouse, Logistics and Distribution; asset planning and utilization; Procurement; master data governance and Local Enterprise Resource Planning deployment and utilization; material and inventory control and management.
The position is responsible for effectively managing resources while supporting manufacturing operational needs to assure a lean extended value-stream. It leads diverse teams dedicated to achieving agreed targets and objectives, uses performance measurements to drive continuous improvement and achieve optimal production outcomes, and extensively collaborates across manufacturing and support functions to support customer requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide strategic leadership, management, and direction for the Supply Chain team primarily responsible for ensuring uninterrupted, compliant supply of quality materials necessary to support St Louis area manufacturing operations effectively and efficiently, optimizing cash, cost and total value.
Accountable to lead Sales & Operations Planning and Sales & Operations Execution processes; Develop plans in collaboration with other site management to ensure alignment to supply plans, site and cross-department goals and establishment of effective project plans and resource allocation.
Assure St. Louis area production assets are optimally utilized; maintain knowledge of operational capacity and capability; provide guidance and recommendations of future asset requirements based on long range demand and projected capacities and technologies.
Oversee demand planning, lean production scheduling and materials requirements planning processes; assure proper talent in roles to drive highly effective, production outcomes, achieve schedule attainment and deliver on-time-in-full (OTIF).
Manage St Louis area warehouse, logistics and distribution teams, and material and inventory control and management. Manage loss and risk prevention.
Oversee Procurement, assure highly productive processes, practices and talent in place to source, select and acquire goods, service, and materials to region at optimized value. Manage process to establish annual external expenditure costs as part of annual budget process.
Partner with Client Program and Relationship Management resources, and ensure alignment of commercial, supply and operations with client demand.
Manage Supply Chain resources responsible for Enterprise Resource Planning deployment and utilization, including master data management.
Maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and ensure compliance with all relevant company and site policies and procedures, GXP, environmental, safety, financial (including Sarbanes-Oxley), and other regulatory requirements. Serve as Supply Chain subject matter expert and key point of contact for audits, inspections, and external visits to the St Louis area sites.
Serve as member of the St Louis Area Senior Site Leadership Team (SLT), build strong working relationships with, and effectively support, key site and corporate stakeholders (e.g., Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Product Development, Finance, Commercial)
Assure supply chain support alignment with stakeholder interests and business needs; includes providing insight and information to senior leaders on operational capabilities, production output forecasts/capacities, and manufacturing scenarios.
Lead, direct, develop, mentor, and coach direct report colleagues, and balance the workload to achieve high quality and quantity work standards. Ensure team members pursue continuous development of supply chain related skills and competencies as well as other professional development tools to continuously improve their capabilities.
Ensure and/or establish appropriate tools (scorecards and metrics) for monitoring Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain performance with the intent of meeting or exceeding established objective targets. Benchmark supply chain metric performance vs Kindeva network and CDMO drug/device industry, assess and set strategies to obtain best in class performance.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience or Master’s degree with 12 years of experience required.
7 years prior management experience required, including experience working in and leading Supply Chain functions in multi-product, multi-client cGMP manufacturing and pharma or drug delivery device CDMO environments.
Previous extensive experience operating in complex ERP systems environment and managing Sales & Operations Planning process.
Experience in leading and managing highly skilled professionals and leading highly effective diverse teams including responsibility for performance management and talent development of team members
Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain systems, processes, and procedures.
Experience managing CDMO Client programs, operations and client relationship management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Supply Chain or Operations Management
APICS/CPM Certification.
10 years of demonstrated Supply Chain Management experience.
Progressively increasing roles of management responsibility within Supply Chain organizations.
Extensive knowledge of cGMP and Global Regulatory requirements.
Experience with Global Trade / Trade Compliance
