Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing coordinates staffing for all nursing units. Serves as a liaison between the nursing office and other SAU departments. Assists the nursing administration with reports staffing variances, and scheduling. Actively participates in recruitment activities for nursing services.
Essential Functions
- Develops and maintains nursing department staffing records including cancellation list, float log, master schedule, and attendance records
- Identifies with the DON or designee the number and level of personnel required to provide patient care, initiates changes in personnel and assignment as directed
- Maintains the accuracy of the nursing payroll time sheets. Initiates changes and correction as necessary
- Completes schedule and completes daily staffing sheets
- Demonstrates competency and practice behavior in areas of staffing variances
- Reports staffing problems and unusual situations to the DON or designee and keeps her/him informed of situations requiring follow up or immediate attention
- Reports any employee absences, scheduling and tardy issues to the DON or designee for corrective and possibly disciplinary action
- Handles registry staffing according to staffing needs. Maintains registry competencies, billing records, and sign in sheets for registry: Checks charges for accuracy and is a liaison with the registry companies
- Review applicants for open positions within the nursing department, set up applicants with interviews
- Participates in recruitment activities for nursing services as directed by the DON
- Coordinates with Human resources in the hire process and orientation of new employees
- Participates in SAU committees as needed
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean and wears appropriate identification while on duty
- Maintains professional growth and development
- Reports to work on time as scheduled; adheres to policies regarding notification of absence
- Attends all mandatory in-services and staff meetings
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner

- Must read, write and speak fluent English
- Must have good and regular attendance
- Approximate percent of time required to travel: 0 – 105

Education
- High school graduate/GED

Experience
- One-year experience as staffing coordinator in LTC preferred
