Lead Prosthetic Technician/Lab Manager

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Prosthetic Technician/Lab Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the technical aspects of prosthetic design and fabrication as well the desire to see our patients succeed. As Lead Prosthetic Technician/Lab Manager, you will work closely with Prosthetists and other healthcare professionals to create and modify prosthetic limbs that meet the specific needs of our clients. Kinetic Prosthetics utilizes in-house prosthetic fabrication, allowing our clinicians and technicians to work side by side to ensure a high quality, customized product for our patients. This role requires precision, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Fabricate and repair prosthetic devices according to patient specifications and prescriptions, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

· Utilize various materials (e.g., plastics, metals, composite fibers) and techniques (e.g., molding, sculpting, computer-aided design) in the creation of prosthetic components.

· Demonstrates effective time management skills by maximizing efficiency while reducing production errors.

· Organizes projects and ensures components/materials are available.

· Manages rush or unscheduled projects without affecting workload.

· Assumes individual project management from start to completion.

· Maintain continuous liaison with manufacturers and dealers of prosthetic supplies.

· Manages prosthetic lab staff including overseeing schedules, evaluating employee performance, etc.

· Manages inventory of stock items, fabrication materials, and components.

· Assigns workload giving due consideration to priorities, requisite needs, and capabilities of the Prosthetic Lab.

· Fabricates, including but not limited to, lay-ups and lamination, molding, shaping/forming, assembly, and static bench alignment.

· Quality checks on materials, required procedures and completed work by ensuring accuracy of fit, operation, durability and cosmetic appearance of prosthetics fabricated or repaired.

· Conduct fittings and adjustments to prosthetic devices, working closely with Prosthetists to ensure optimal comfort and functionality for the client.

· Maintain accurate records of design specifications, fabrication processes, and adjustments made to each prosthetic device.

· Collaborate with the clinical team to assess and implement design modifications based on client feedback and clinical observations.

· Stay abreast of advancements in prosthetic technology and materials, continuously seeking to improve skills and knowledge.

· Ensure that all work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control measures.

· Assist in the inventory management of materials and supplies, ensuring availability and efficient use of resources.

· Allocates resources within budget, time, and staff constraints effectively using all resources

· Performs routine maintenance of tools and equipment.

· Participates in projects as needed

· Completes other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

· Previous experience in prosthetic fabrication and repair is required.

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Completion of a CAAHEP/NCOPE approved technician education program and/or ABC Certified Prosthetic or Prosthetic-Orthotic Technician (CTP or CTPO) is preferred.

· Strong technical skills, including proficiency in the use of hand tools and machinery used in prosthetic fabrication.

· Excellent time management skills.

· Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software is a plus.

· Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and manual dexterity.

· Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with both colleagues and clients.

· Compassionate and patient-focused, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with limb loss or impairment.
