Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Electrical Specialist is responsible for being the primary subject matter expert for the electrical power systems. This person will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the electrical power systems for the company.
Establish and manage the routine & predictive electrical equipment maintenance program which adheres to national codes and common industry accepted practices.
Manage the safety requirements for the electrical in the field
Performs routine & predictive maintenance tasks on electrical equipment and systems and directs other electrical workers in these tasks as required.
Performs analysis on gathered electrical data and utilizes results to make electrical equipment preventative maintenance and repair decisions
Performs troubleshooting and repairs including supervision of contractors in the event of electrical equipment or electrical power system failures.
All other duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
2-year degree in electrical technology or related field, or completion of recognized apprenticeship program and 8 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience or 10 years of experience performing electrical power equipment maintenance, testing and repairs in an industrial environment.
NETA certification preferred
“Electrical qualified person”, by virtue of formal training and direct experience with low/medium/high voltage electrical power distribution equipment.
Possesses expert-level knowledge in electrical safe work practices, electrical equipment theory and operation as well as electrical maintenance standards.
Possesses expert knowledge in the use of computer software, VOAMs, Hi-pots, VLF testers, meggers, thermal imaging cameras, ground testers, and other specialized test equipment and routinely used electrical maintenance tools.
Working Conditions:
Work may involve walking and standing on rough terrain with uneven and slippery surfaces.
The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate but may regularly require exposure to loud noises from machinery.
Will be required to regularly drive to other field facilities within their assigned region.
Will regularly use a computer to create, record, store, revise and save documentation needed to perform their role.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
Ability to work effectively in all working conditions noted above.
Ability to wear electrical safety equipment for extended periods
Able to lift and carry up to 25-50 lbs. in a safe manner.
Ability to talk, listen and speak clearly on a telephone and in-person.
