Responsibilities:
The following includes the essential duties and responsibilities of a Physical Therapist Assistant. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Works with Physical Therapist to assess patient condition, establish goals, treatments and care plan in conjunction with patient, family, and physician
- Tests and measures patients strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
- Administers physical therapy treatments (including home instruction) within scope of physical therapy practice appropriately and monitors patient responses to such treatments.
- Works with Physical Therapist to evaluate effects of treatments at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Documents findings, treatments, responses and progress in patients charts according to clinic guidelines.
- Ensures that appropriate treatment is performed in interdisciplinary fashion, consulting with physicians and other departments about impact of PT factors on patient health status.
- Complies with appropriate clinic policies related to infection control, safety, regulations.
- Educates patient and patients family on appropriate care and use of various therapies and/or exercises.
- Serves as an information/education resource for patients, families, staff.
- Provide physical therapy services, maintaining appropriate protocols.
- Supervises and assists with student observation and clinical rotation if applicable.
- Assist in marketing and promotional efforts and events as needed.
- Participates in in-services and other departmental meetings that are organized.
- Assists with smooth running of the clinic with accepting responsibilities assigned to them by the Clinical Director
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of physical therapy principles, standards and applications.
- Knowledge of clinic policies, procedures, regulations, safety and infection control, and quality control requirement.
- Knowledge of how to use and maintain physical therapy equipment.
- Skill in appropriate treatment of patients and the ability to evaluate utilization and quality data and make necessary modifications in performance
- Skill in using PT equipment by consistently using devices appropriately to improve patient health status
- Skill in effectively supervising physical therapy students and rehab aides.
Salary : $48,000 - $64,000
