Salary : 18.00 / hr.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Treasurer's Clerk performs intermediate skilled clerical, administrative, technical, and financial work assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Treasurer's Office. Works under the general supervision of the Treasurer and direct supervision of the Chief Deputy Treasurer. These tasks include work involving record keeping and collections for the County. Works directly with the public answering phones, collecting and properly accounting for taxes and fees using proper security measures concerning confidential information.
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK :
This position is primarily sedentary office work. It requires sitting and standing intermittently. May lift or exert pressure up to 10 pounds occasionally. Requires repetitive hand and arm motions to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, ability to communicate with citizens and other professionals, visual acuity for close work in accurately preparing and analyzing written or computer data and ability to use technology and general office equipment and machines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / TYPICAL TASKS :
- Receives payments in person or by mail and posts payment toaccounts.
- Answers questions from citizens regarding tax bill,assessment, delinquent account, etc.
- Records and balances daily collections and cash receipts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
General knowledge of the principles underlying the laws, ordinances and regulations governing the operations of the Treasurer's Office; general knowledge of the principles, methods and practices of accounting; some knowledge of business and office practices; ability to analyze and interpret fiscal and accounting data and to prepare appropriate statements and reports; ability to operate standard office, word processing and data entry equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county citizens and associates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some accounting and customer service experience.
