REPORTS TO:
The Safety Specialist reports to the Safety Manger / Safety Director.
PURPOSE & BASIC FUNCTION:
Perform the duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Safety Manager / Director. The Safety Specialist is accountable to the Safety Director for the satisfactory completion, maintenance and compliance of all assigned duties and safety regulations as mandated by, which include but are not limited to OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and DOL.
JOB DUTIES:
Provide assistance to Safety Manager/Director in designing safety protocols.
Following incidents and accidents, a construction Safety Specialist performs a thorough investigation to ensure that all required policies were followed.
Initiate and implement safety measures in work areas.
Inspect work area premises for hazardous elements.
Educate workers and employees on safety aspects. Assist in the coordination and arrangement of training and education programs. Assists the Safety Director in preparing safety manuals and guidelines.
Collaborate with departmental heads in implementing safety processes.
Establish and manage first aid center in work premises.
Ensure first aid treatment is provided immediately to injured employees.
Initiate and implement patient safety in a facility setting.
Strictly adhere to corporate safety guidelines and procedures.
Carry out additional duties as assigned by Safety Director.
EXPERIENCE:
Extensive experience and knowledge of environmental and occupational health and safety, along with an established track record of success, may be considered as a substitute for the educational requirements.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all laws surrounding construction safety then develops and implements policies, procedures and other company-wide safety standards.
Over one year and up to three years to become familiar with different aspects and responsibilities of Safety Specialist position.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
Position requires the ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift and grasp. The position requires the ability to perceive sounds and receive detailed information through oral communication. This includes speaking in front of large and small groups in the training process.
