THE POSITION:Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
Under the general direction and in collaboration with the Superintendent, the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment shall provide direction and leadership in administering the overall instructional program. The Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment shall be responsible for providing direct organizational support to schools within the context of informed decision-making. The Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment shall be responsible for providing direction in organizational services that are results-oriented and collaborative.
SALARY AND WORK YEAR
Annual salary range of $96,731 to $117,275, which includes $1,000 annual mileage allowance [for travel inside Monterey County] and ACSA dues and allowance for medical, dental and vision benefits. An annual work year of 220 days.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The following criteria represent the standards for the evaluation of applications and the selection of the successful candidate:
Professional Skills and Abilities:
·Experience coordinating professional development and working effectively with teachers and administrators at the K – 8 grade levels
·A background including extensive work with statewide framework and adoptions, including curriculum implementation, with writing grants, plans and reports
·Proven leadership, and ability to form, motivate and work with teams
·Problem solving, leadership and decision-making ability and ease in working with all levels of District staff
·Working knowledge of cutting edge technology, comprehensive knowledge of CA curriculum standards, assessment and accountability legislation, statewide testing particularly the CST and CELDT.
·An in-depth understanding of research regarding professional development, leadership and school wide systems for student success in curriculum
Duties and Responsibilities:
·Provides direction, leadership and support to schools in curriculum and instruction: assessment, implementation and State standards including GATE, Reading First, Migrant, NCLB and other categorical programs.
·Provides direction and systems organization in curriculum regarding scope of work, priorities, current need, coaching, leadership, and the best use of time and effort given current student test scores
·Provide direction regarding development and revision of curriculum guides, course outlines, course mapping for ongoing testing and instructional materials
·Monitor textbook adoptions and budgets; prepare related projections; oversee orders for textbooks; coordinate and direct related professional learning.
·Support sites’ compliance with the provisions of the Williams legislation.
·Pursue local, State and Federal funding opportunities and grants
·Prepares and monitors reports, professional development plans, implementation plans, protocol, organization plans and services based on Superintendent and Board priorities
Qualifications and Experience:
Appropriate California teaching Credential; and California Administrative Services Credential including Master’s Degree
Minimum three (3) years successful teaching experience at the K – 8 level
Minimum three (3) years successful administrative experience at the K – 8 level
Adeptness at dealing effectively with employees and others on a one-to-one basis and in groups
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to forge cooperative relationships with community members and other public agency personnel
Ability to use and present data through word process, spreadsheet, database and presentation programs
Experience and knowledge of operating procedures of a school district; applicable Federal, State and local laws, regulations and procedures [Special Education experience preferred]; principles and practices of organization; administrative and personnel management; school and community partnerships; and the student expulsion process.
