Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern
Role Title: GIS Intern
Salary Range: $20.00 - $25.00/hour
Classification: Temporary Assignment (3 months); Full-Time; Internship
Location and hours: Seattle, WA; In person and eligible for telework
Organizational Overview
The King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) is a public agency that oversees homelessness-related programs and funding in the Seattle-King County region. Created by an interlocal agreement between the City of Seattle and King County in 2019, KCRHA is responsible for unifying and coordinating the homelessness response system across our large and diverse region. KCRHA works with a wide range of stakeholders with a focus on continuous improvement across the system; centering lived experience; meeting the needs of people experiencing homelessness; and making the most effective use of public funds. Our mission is to significantly decrease homelessness throughout King County using equity and social justice principles.
Team Overview
The Office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has direct lines of interaction with all divisions across the agency, working closely to ensure alignment with KCRHA’s overall strategy and goals. The KCRHA’s departments are Programs, Finance, External Affairs, and Equity & Impact.
Role Description
Reporting directly to the CEO or her designee, this Intern Geographic Information Systems role will possess strong spatial thinking and analytical skills and proficiency in ArcGIS software, database management, and data manipulation. The GIS Intern will provide GIS data analysis and support to KCRHA personnel for KCRHA projects and operations. You will provide technical support to KCRHA staff on desktop ArcGIS software and data. You will work with KCRHA staff to address GIS-related inquiries and provide training as needed.
This role includes spatial data analysis, GIS application customization, map preparation, and technical support for ArcGIS software users.

Minimum Requirements
Our internship is for active students only.
To be eligible for this internship, you must be enrolled in a college or university program for the duration of your internship. For example, if you are graduating from a college or university in June 2025 and are not enrolled for a fall 2025 academic program, you are not eligible for internship but rather highly encouraged to apply for our entry-level job openings.
• Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters of college level coursework in computer science, software engineering, geographic information systems tools and data analysis, environmental science, geography or urban planning.
* Experience or coursework with or ArcGIS Dashboards
• Experience or coursework with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to communicate insights and support data-driven decision making.
• Experience or coursework in preparing maps, graphics, and reports.

• High interest in the homelessness or housing sector, specifically with government and community stakeholders in King County, is strongly preferred.
