Function: To provide support and advocacy to victims of sexual assault and/or family, friends, or professionals via a toll free, 24-hour crisis and information line. 

Hours: Part-time, average 6 to 18 hours, with 2-3 shifts per week. There is a potential for additional hours, as needed, on a varying weekly schedule. Must be open to working the following shifts any day of the week Sunday thru Saturday, though availability must include weekday hours (6am-6pm) and weekend shifts. Ideal candidate has flexibility to take shifts as needed.

Fully Remote – must reside in Washington State 

                  Please Note: This job is performed from the employee's home. This position requires the staff person to have a landline telephone with no extra features (i.e. call waiting, caller id, call blocking) must ring busy, must be  in a private location that is free from distraction and noise. KCSARC provides a stipend for the  monthly cost of this phone.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide sexual assault crisis intervention, support, information and/or referral via the telephone.
  • Determine comprehensive service needs of callers.
  • Provide information and referral.
  • Provide support and information about the effects of victimization.
  • Provide information about dealing with the trauma and aftermath of sexual assault.
  • Provide information about the medical and legal issues related to sexual assault.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines.
  • Provide information on services available in King County and surrounding areas
  • Assess the medical needs of the client and provide information about medical issues
  • Provide support and information related to the medical exams
  • Assist clients and/or guardians to make informed decisions regarding psychological needs
  • Provide information and assistance with Crime Victim Compensation application
  • Input data into the Client Tracking System in a timely manner
  • Work to continually assess service needs
  • Attend Resource Line monthly meeting and other agency meetings as needed
  • Back-up advocates who are unable to cover shifts due to illness, vacation, or other absences
  • Other duties as assigned
