The Facilities Management Division (FMD) is searching for a program leader to serve as ADA Compliance Program Manager (Project/Program Manager III) to lead our compliance efforts with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in our facilities. This position will support FMD in furtherance of its commitment to providing equitable and accessible spaces by applying their knowledge of Title II and Title III of the ADA. This position requires a deep understanding of ADA regulations and standards for equitable design, strong organizational and program management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders both within and outside the department.
This position resides in the FMD Directors Office and reports to the FMD Administration & Planning Officer. The person in this position will oversee a vendor-led evaluation and transition plan for current facilities and services that do not or may not meet ADA requirements and should be capable of leading self-evaluations in the future. This role requires that the incumbent have exceptional strategic leadership skills, a commitment to building and maintaining a diverse workforce, a driver of efficiency and innovation, and a desire to push self and others for successful results.

Job Duties
The role will be responsible for:
- Work with FMD leadership to develop, implement, and manage the ADA Transition Plan of structural changes to existing facilities and properties to achieve ADA compliance.
- Develop ADA standards and policies for FMD.
- Monitor facility modifications and the maintenance of access features for ADA compliance.
- Advise and assist other FMD sections on universal design and compliance with Titles II and III of the ADA, and relevant federal, state, and local laws.
- Support coordination with and assist other FMD sections, including Building Operations and Capital Projects, on the compliance with and implementation of county ADA focused policies, programs, projects, procedures, etc.
- Manage FMD’s digital drawing library, to include uploading new files, adding metadata, and collating of conformed sets.
- Own wayfinding and signage standards for FMD controlled buildings
- Develop FMD’s ADA Compliance Program SharePoint site to provide a one stop shop to employees and tenants for information, tips, policies, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Have advanced knowledge of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), especially Titles II and III, ADA standards for accessible design, and Federal, State and County laws and regulations pertaining to ADA compliance.
- Can transform their knowledge of the ADA into scalable and understandable policies and plans which accurately define and mitigate compliance issues.
- Skilled in communicating orally and in writing including making formal presentations, writing detailed briefing memorandums and policy papers.
- Has at least five (5) years of progressive experience in ADA compliance, response, and planning for a large operational department or entity.
- Experience acting as a key consultant or advisor on accessibility matters and developing policy recommendations for senior management.
- Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
- Skills in facilitation, negotiating, problem-solving, and decision making.
- Skill in using current office word processing, spreadsheet and email software programs.
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities within tight timelines and during high pressure situations; Skill in working with decision makers in a political environment.
- A thoroughly completed King County application is required for consideration. Resumes and cover letters are highly encouraged but not required.
- Final appointment is contingent upon successfully passing a finger-print based criminal history check and reference checks.
- This position is not represented by a union.
- This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible.
