King County Metro Transit’s Facilities Division has an exciting opportunity for a Transit Facilities Specialist Lead (Transit Custodian Lead). This position is responsible for assistance and lead direction to a group of assigned Facilities Specialists (Transit Custodians). Work includes coordinating work assignments, monitoring work flows and ensuring timely completion of work, maintaining quality standards, ensuring adherence to schedules, standards and operating requirements, and ensuring compliance with operating policies and procedures. Work requires providing varied support and performing a variety of duties as assigned during adverse weather events or other emergencies. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level facility maintenance supervisor. Leadership by example is key in this position.
This recruitment will immediately fill one (1) Career Service position and may be used to establish an eligibility pool to fill future Career Service vacancies that may occur over the next twelve (12) months.
Interviews and testing are currently anticipated to during the week of March 3 through March 7, 2025, but dates are subject to change.

WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
The primary work location will be at Central Maintenance Facilities (1301 Airport Way S; Seattle, WA 98134), but is subject to change. Employees must be able to work any shift (including day, swing, or overnight, weekends, holidays, and call-outs) at any of the Facilities locations throughout the King County Metro Transit system.
This position is anticipated to be scheduled 40 hours per week. This position is not exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore overtime eligible, with prior supervisory approval. This position is not eligible for telework/remote work.

- Prioritize, schedule, coordinate, and assign work for Facilities Specialists (Transit Custodians) performing a wide variety of custodial duties.
- Oversee and evaluate the work of Transit Facilities Specialists (Transit Custodians) and monitor work in progress.
- Resolve or escalate resident concerns/complaints.
- Secure areas for safe cleaning.
- Clean and provide litter and trash pick-up at stations, platforms, plazas, rights-of-way, and various industrial facilities.
- Load and unload small equipment, debris, and trash.
- Mix and use cleaning chemicals and solutions.
- Empty trash and recycle bins.
- Operate pressure washers, floor scrubbers, and associated equipment.
- Clean, stock, and sanitize restrooms and elevators.
- Dust, wipe, wash, and vacuum surfaces.
- Request and stock various supplies.
- Clean glass and surface areas; remove graffiti.
- Respond to emergency calls as necessary and prioritize emergency tasks in the absence of on-site supervision.

- Perform snow and ice removal.
- Operate company vehicles.

- Have two (2) or more years of current work experience in the classification held with Metro Transit OR two (2) or more years of similar work experience.
- Two (2) or more years of current or recent work experience in an industrial or commercial custodial/janitorial setting, or related coursework/training, or some combination thereof demonstrating the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
- One (1) year or more of work experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity, or related coursework/training, or some combination thereof demonstrating the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Knowledge of workload planning and scheduling, with ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- Skill in training and providing technical assistance.
- Recent professional industrial cleaning/janitorial experience.
- Knowledge of basic janitorial techniques.
- Knowledge in the use and care of cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge in the proper use, mixing, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and solutions.
