King County’s Finance and Business Operations Division, Procurement & Payables section, is seeking an Assistant to Chief Procurement Officer (Administrator I)!
This recruitment is to fill a Term-Limited Temporary position that is anticipated to end in March 2026. If filled by a King County employee in a regular position, the TLT will be a Special Duty Assignment.

Scope of Job Duties: To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to:
Administrative Support: Provide administrative support directly to the Chief Procurement Officer and a diverse group of internal and external customers, on the phone and through email.
- Draft, review, prepare and edit memos, letters, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and other materials with attention to detail using proper grammar, spelling, formatting and punctuation.
- Develop and maintain reports.
- Manage the Chief Procurement Officer’s calendar by scheduling and prioritizing meetings and appointments.
- Help ensure deliverables from the CPO are prioritized correctly.
- Comfortably interact and collaborate with administrative support staff within the Directors Office and leadership of all other County agencies.
- Contribute innovative ideas and recommend efficiencies for process improvements.
- Coordinate daily huddles for CPO’s leadership team
Payroll: Process payroll for approximately 80 individuals in the section ensuring timely approval is obtained in the PeopleSoft payroll system and leave data is recorded correctly with Human Resources. This includes preparation and maintenance of payroll records, adjustments and corrections to payroll benefit accruals and other payroll information.
Employee Reimbursements: Coordinate travel arrangements and reimbursements for Out-of-State travel requests for the Section. Process travel expense reimbursements and Procurement Card (P-Card) expenses by processing expense transactions using Oracle EBS. Reconcile P-Card transactions for approval and maintain all back up documents and receipts as required. Process payment of invoices for the P&P Section including appropriate account coding and assist as needed with preparation of various reporting information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in administrative support including document preparation, report development and maintenance, scheduling, or other related administrative duties
- Ability to interact daily at the Director and above level within King County
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive documents and information.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, writing and customer service skills;
- Intermediate level of technology proficiency using MS Office Productivity tools in your daily work;
- Ability to manage your time and adapt to changing priorities, work on multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, meet quick deadlines, and produce timely and quality work products;
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
We would love it if you have:
- Experience utilizing the applications necessary to support P-Card for purchasing and reconciliation, with timekeeping/payroll processing and expense processing.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint and basic familiarity with Microsoft Project and Visio
- Experience with LEAN processes and principles;
- Experience with SharePoint, MS Teams and other collaborative online tools.

Position Information:
- Work Site Details: The work associated with this position will primarily be remote. In office requirements are set to 0 days per week. This may change as required by King County business needs and for meetings/events.
- Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
- Work Schedule: This position is Non-Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Union Representation: This position is not represented.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop. When working remotely employees must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work, remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours, and follow FBOD’s Hybrid and Remote Guidelines including on-camera participation during virtual video meetings. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.
