Jail Health Services (JHS) a division within the Department of Public Health – King County is seeking two (2) dedicated and passionate Clinical Supervisors to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of developing and implementing innovative care practices. You would put your clinical supervision skills to work by leading a clinical team of both licensed and unlicensed staff. This specialized team provides person-centered and trauma-informed release planning services that focus on individuals in need of coordinated medical care, behavioral health treatment, benefits, and other social services.
As part of the clinical leadership team, you would also play a pivotal role in ensuring individuals have the essential resources and support that they need as the release from jail as well as forging impactful partnerships with community stakeholders and fostering a vibrant and inclusive work environment. JHS provides needed health and social services to the incarcerated population located in the King County jails – King County Correctional Facility (KCCF) in Seattle, WA and Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC) in Kent, WA. The primary services we provide include medical, dental, mental health, social and release planning services, treatment of substance use disorders, and pharmaceutical services. We care about the patients we serve and their health outcomes. Our division includes over 250 employees and an annual budget of over $60 million.
The purpose of JHS is to assure that high-quality health and human services are available to the incarcerated population in the King County adult correctional facilities: the King County Correctional Facility (KCCF) in Seattle and the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC) in Kent. The JHS vision is Opening doors to healthier, happier lives, and the mission is To assess and stabilize serious health problems for the detained population of the King County Correctional Facility and the Maleng Regional Justice Center with a focus on transition from jail.
Staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year, JHS provides a broad range of health care to all individuals booked into the jails. For patients with serious mental health or medical conditions, special housing units (psychiatric and infirmary) along with a higher level of services and medical monitoring are provided. Since the patient population varies both in numbers as well as in acuity of health conditions, staffing is adapted and flexed to meet the constantly changing needs of the population.
JHS staff manage the complex health needs of underserved populations many of whom come to the facility without access to care in the community and with decompensated acute and chronic health conditions.

Work Schedule
Typical work schedule for these positions are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with possibility of alternative work arrangements after completion of probation. This position is not subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible.
Work Location
The primary work locations for these positions are at the King County Correctional Facility (KCCF) located at 500 Fifth Avenue Seattle, WA 98104; and the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC) located at 401 Fourth Avenue N. Kent, WA 98032.
- Lead day-to-day clinical activities and serve as an expert technical resource or lead for work teams.
Hire, train, supervise and evaluate licensed and unlicensed clinical team members.
- Provide expert technical analysis and support for complex clinical cases and programmatic challenges.
- Monitor workflows and adherence to policies and procedures to inform future policy direction and quality assurance activities.
Represent the clinical program at various internal and external workgroups or meetings and address stakeholder concerns.
- Handle multi-disciplinary or technically challenging analytical or planning projects and programs.
Required:
- State of Washington licensure as LMHC, LMFT, LICSW, LSWA or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of clinical supervision experience that includes experience supervising clinical staff in initiating and completing accurate clinical assessments, updating case records, documenting interventions, progress, and outcomes, and reporting patient status in an electronic health record.
- Ability to travel on a flexible schedule to various worksites.
- Pass a security clearance and/or background check to secure access to the jails.
- Able to acquire BLS-CPR for healthcare providers prior to first day of employment.
- Must have some experience working with various personnel processes such as hiring, training, performance, and assisting with labor relations issues.
- Expertise in principles and processes of social work, case management, behavior change, counseling/intervention, and service planning for people who are predominantly living unsheltered and have complex medical, behavioral health, and substance use issues.
- Demonstrated advanced skills, especially in areas such as ethics, person-centered approaches, trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented concepts, crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing development of your clinical skills, especially those related to cultural humility and shared decision making.
- A deep commitment to racial equity and understanding of the historical and generational impacts of racism and mass incarceration.
- Knowledge of specific challenges and needs of individuals facing legal involvement, housing instability, poverty, substance use disorders, and mental health diagnoses compounded by discrimination and systemic oppression.
- Experience applying equity skills in the practice of undoing racism.
- Demonstrated ability to address conflicts as opportunities for collaboration with demonstratable facilitation, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
- Evidence of strong emotional intelligence and ability to work well as a part of a team.
- Familiarity with Microsoft programs such as Teams, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with electronic health records.
- Ability to use web-based tools and software.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using a range of methods and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while remaining organized in a complex, ever-changing environment.
Desired:
- Substance use disorder certification OR two (2) years of experience OR education specifically related to substance use disorder care and harm reduction, including knowledge of various medications, treatment modalities, and therapeutic approaches.
- Experience working in a position where you routinely coordinated medical, behavior health, substance use, and other social service resources in King County for Medicaid-eligible adults.

Public Health - Jail Health Services follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders.
