What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oracle Applications Trainer- TLT/SDA position at King County?
This position will be filled as a Term Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) and is anticipated to last through October 2026.
King County’s Business Resource Center (BRC) Training Team has an opening for a creative training professional to develop and deliver engaging technical training content in a variety of mediums.
We are looking for a tech-savvy trainer who enjoys flexing their creative muscles to make technical educational content engaging and helpful for our customers. Our ideal candidate will enjoy collaborating with team members and have great customer service skills. They will also have a passion for helping employees learn how to be more efficient by optimizing their use of our business systems and are always seeking to educate and help customers adapt to ongoing application changes. Our ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who isn’t afraid to ask for help or recommend training process improvements.
Who We Are and What We Do:The BRC supports, maintains, and optimizes King County’s enterprise HR and payroll system (PeopleSoft), as well as the finance, procurement (EBS), and business intelligence (BI) applications. These enterprise business applications are used countywide to perform essential business processes.
The BRC Training Team works closely with teams across the division to support training activities for system upgrades and projects that implement changes to business processes, system functionality and implement new Oracle products. We work with project teams and subject matter experts to assess changes impacting existing training content and work to define and organize content to be included in new or updated educational offerings. We provide change management and communication support to the user communities for major systems changes.
Key Expectations – In order to be considered minimally qualified for this opportunity, you must demonstrate skill and ability to:
- Is a creative thinker and problem solver who shows strong self-initiative to overcome issues and can work both independently and collaboratively with team members.
- Plan, design, develop, and deliver technical training content using the following skills:
- Video production/editing (e.g., screen capture, software demo/tutorial)
- Instructional design for asynchronous e-learning course development
- Technical writing (e.g., user guides, tutorial scripts, communications, etc.)
- Live facilitation for virtual instructor led training and workshops
- Utilize a variety of technical tools (e.g., Articulate360 - Storyline/Rise [e-learning], Camtasia [video editing], Office 365, etc.) to produce and deliver training content that supports our customers in applying what they’ve learned into their daily business operations.
- Use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure training content meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) digital accessibility requirements.
- Have proven time management skills – be able to plan and manage project tasks, keep track of project schedules, and meet deadlines.
- Coordinate with project teams and subject matter experts to evaluate systems changes that impact our customers.
- Advise on and support training activities for system upgrades and projects that implement changes to business processes and system functionality.
- Develop collaborative relationships with BRC systems analysts, business partners, and system stakeholders, and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively with team members, leadership, customers, and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Develop and deliver presentations, communications, and specialized training through forums, virtual instructor-led trainings, workshops, and other mediums of information sharing.
- Learn and adopt new tools and approaches over time as part of the continuous improvement of training offerings.
- Considers behavior awareness and interpersonal communication style to meet the needs of a wide range of situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate may also have:
- Experience in e-learning development and instructional design models (i.e., ADDIE, Kirkpatrick, Gagne, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy).
- Basic understanding of visual design and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to: SharePoint, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience using measurement tools and techniques to assess training effectiveness.
- Familiar with organizational change management.
- Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
