The Safety, Security, and Quality Assurance (SSQA) Division at Metro Transit has an exciting opportunity for a Security Contract Support Specialist. We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented professional to provide day to day support for our security contract of over 200 Transit Security Officers (TSO). In this role, you will manage onboarding and offboarding processes, provide inventory management, and manage data in a collaborative and fast paced environment.
This position is embedded in the Transit Security Group which oversees the operations of our contracted security personnel, manages systems related to transit security, and promotes ongoing improvements to enhance safety for employees and the community throughout Metro’s multimodal service system.
You will be working closely with the Transit Security Administrator for Contracted Security ensuring our security contractor provides the highest level of service delivery to support Metro riders and employees. This position will also interact with contract management and administrative support staff in daily functions to support their efforts in achieving service excellence. The Security Contract Support Specialist is a Project/Program Manager III (PPM III) classification and will report to the Physical Security Superintendent.
About the Safety, Security & Quality Assurance Division: King County Metro Transit’s SSQA Division provides leadership and the highest level of support and customer focus to continuously improve Metro’s safety culture and security practices to best protect Metro employees, patrons, and the communities we serve from unintentional and intentional harm.
Recruitment Information: This recruitment will be used to fill one Career Service position. In addition, this recruitment’s selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool for future Career Service positions that may occur in this classification. The eligibility pool will be retained for 6 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority. As a Security Contract Support Specialist, you will also:
- Provide support for day-to-day operations of security contracts
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for Transit Security Officers (TSO)
- Track and manage badging processes including creation, deactivation, and renewal
- Create and manage TSO email account access
- Collaborate and work effectively with internal and external partners including other divisions, departments, and stakeholders
- Track and maintain inventory of consumables and submit purchase requests
- Oversee equipment inventory such as two-way radios, microphones, and other hardware
- Track and manage cellphone inventory, maintenance, and upgrades
- Review and ensure accuracy of data from various sources such as Omnigo and MS Suite products including identifying and correcting errors
- Input data and manage tracking of invoice processing to ensure accurate and timely contractor payments
- Compile data, generate reports, and assist in auditing processes to ensure service delivery by the contractor
- Other duties as assigned
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Three or more years' experience providing advanced, high-level administrative support in a complex environment OR any combination of work experience, training, and/or education that provides the skills to perform the work
- Analytical skills including inputting, auditing, and tracking data
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Skill in taking initiative and being resourceful including independently resolving problems and work assignments
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team including collaborating and building strong working relationships with diverse individuals from various positions and backgrounds
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills, including experience providing professional and courteous service
- Experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously, working effectively under pressure, and producing quality work within tight deadlines
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerBI)
- Ability to leverage technology, software, and databases to streamline processes and drive results
Highly competitive candidates will also have (desired, but not required):
- Experience compiling data and information to create reports, graphs, and other visuals
- Working knowledge of government principles and practices
- Working knowledge of King County Metro Transit programs, services, and processes
- Project management experience
- Experience in contract and vendor management
- Knowledge of security policies, procedures, and best practices
Necessary Special Requirements:
Driver’s Abstract Review: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license with acceptable five-year driving record (to be verified via a Driver’s Abstract review prior to employment). Any of the following violations in the last five years will automatically disqualify candidates under consideration:
- Reckless or negligent driving
- Driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated
- Hit and run accident citation
- Vehicular homicide or vehicular assault
- Open container citation
- More than one at-fault accident (does not include non at-fault accidents)
- Any 1 suspension for a moving violation
- 3 or more moving violations
- Any license suspension, revocation, cancellation or disqualification based on a traffic or moving violation
- License restrictions (such as an ignition interlock device requirement)
- Any convictions for reckless or negligent driving, hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, vehicular assault or homicide
- Any alcohol, drug or test refusal related occurrences
- Any other driving record incidents or occurrences that provide a reasonable basis to question the applicant's ability to provide safe and public transportation
Employees must possess a Washington State driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
Background Check Requirement: Where the criminal conviction relates reasonably to the fitness to perform the job duties, Metro Transit has a responsibility to ensure a safe and reliable public transportation system for its passengers and its employees. - Crimes involving dishonesty such as fraud, embezzlement, the mishandling, theft, and/or the misappropriation of funds or property, or possession of stolen property.
- Crimes involving serious or repeated discrimination or harassment based on race, creed, color, religion, sex, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation (municipal law applies in Seattle).

Position Details: This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible. Employees will work 40 hours per week with typical work hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The primary onsite working location for this position will be the Graybar Building located at 416 Occidental Avenue South, Seattle. This position may require travel to other locations within the greater Metro service area.
The work associated with this position will be performed or conducted through a combination of teleworking and onsite work and meetings. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
