What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Maintenance Technician Worker position at King George County Schools?
General Description: Provide upkeep of the physical condition of the grounds and assist in the upkeep of school buildings and facilities
Essential Job Functions
- Mowing and general maintenance of school and facility lawns, sports fields/facilities and grounds
- Check and maintain drains regularly to ensure they are free of debree, accumulated leaves, etc.
- Removal of snow/ice
- Distribution of chemicals and equipment
- Moving and assisting in moving furniture, equipment, etc.
- Assisting in construction or renovation of offices and/or classrooms
- Assisting in making general repairs of buildings (Ex. repairingor replacing windows/doors/locks, painting)
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician (Ex. repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures)
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Related experience preferred
- On-the-job training offered
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Ability to climb ladders and lifts
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
SUBSTITUTE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN WORKERS ONLY REPORT IF REQUESTED BY THE SUPERVISOR OF MAINTENANCE.
Employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop and kneel. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to tolerate out of doors weather conditions, including but not limited to, heat, cold, humid, dry, rain, snow, and sleet conditions. The employee must be tolerant of pollens and pollutants commonly encountered during grass cutting conditions. Driving to various school facilities is required.
