Job Title:Commercial Industrial Insulator
Department:Base Operations & Maintenance
Job Summary:
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Industrial Insulator to join our team. This role involves installing and replacing the materials used to insulate buildings and their mechanical systems to help control and maintain temperature.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:

Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine insulation requirements and installation procedures

Measure and cut insulating material to the required shape and dimensions using hand and power tools
-
Fit insulation around obstructions or shape insulation materials and protective coverings
-
Install insulation materials by cementing, stapling, wiring, taping, or spraying onto surfaces using hand and power tool
-
Fit, wrap, staple, or attach insulating materials to structures or surfaces using hand tools or wires
-
Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with covers of metallic or nonmetallic canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement, or asphalt mastic

Follow safety procedures and comply with all health and safety regulations

Fabricate and install metal covering
Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficient in written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements

Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents

Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry

Proficient Microsoft Office productivity suite

Knowledge of mechanical systems, insulation types, and installation techniques
Education and Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
At least two years of related experience required
-
Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to insulation, fire safety, and environmental impact
-
Understanding the principles of thermal insulation and energy efficiency and how insulation contributes to energy conservation and cost reduction
-
Knowledge of how heat and cold are transferred through these states of matter
-
Knowledge of safety protocols and standards is essential, including proper handling of materials, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and compliance with OSHA guidelines
Physical Requirements:

Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
-
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
-
Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
-
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
-
Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
-
Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels

Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:

Must be able to successfully pass, as required, a federal, state, or local government background investigation

Must hold a valid state drivers license
