Job Description:
A motor vehicle wrecker, also known as a tow truck operator or wrecker driver, is responsible for safely removing and transporting disabled or damaged vehicles from the scene of an accident, breakdown, or parking violation. They may also provide roadside assistance services such as jump-starts or tire changes. Additional duties may include securing and safely transporting vehicles to an impound lot or repair facility, completing necessary paperwork, and maintaining and cleaning the wrecker vehicle.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License) may be required for certain vehicles or states
- Previous experience operating a tow truck or wrecker preferred
- Strong knowledge of vehicle operation and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
