What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deli Department Specialist (Supervisor) position at King Kullen?
King Kullen seeks a candidate looking to join our Company as a Deli Specialist. The ideal applicant will have relevant professional and management experience working at a food retailer, and be able to demonstrate excellent product knowledge and exceptional customer service.
As a member of the King Kullen management team, the Deli Specialist is a supervisor that oversees our Deli departments in about 13 stores. The Deli Specialist will report to the Director of Meat, Seafood & Deli.
Position Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
Directing department personnel; meeting department’s goals and objectives; review gross profit margins; review departmental performance each period and communicate with department and stores regarding same; communication and collaboration with department and store personnel; onboarding; scheduling; reviewing payroll; enforcing King Kullen and Deli Department policies and procedures; recommending and participating in departmental resets; ensuring accordance with Department of Agriculture Standards; review of product and supply ordering; ensure stock and merchandising levels meet Company standards; oversee the preparation, merchandising and assortment of prepared food items; ensure product shrink control; understand and train team on the importance of monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement; ensure all department personnel are trained on and use proper safety equipment and procedures. There may be other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Candidates must have working knowledge of the deli industry and related trends including prepared foods and catering, have computer experience (Excel & Word), provide excellent customer service, have a safety-focused mindset, be willing to travel throughout Long Island, work Saturdays (and occasional Sundays, with additional compensation for these days), an occasional late evening (with a delayed start that day), and have flexible hours. Candidates must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. A love of food and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, team oriented setting are both musts.
The base pay range for this position is a salary range of $70,000 – $85,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
