Anticipated Interviews during the week of April 7, 2025Position PurposeServe as the instructional leader of the department; assist department staff regarding curriculum, instructional strategies, and use of data to determine student needs and increase student achievement; assist with professional development needs. Assures the smooth operation of the Team Meeting process as required under state and federal laws and regulations and district protocols, procedures, and policies. Essential FunctionsOther duties may be assigned.Oversees the review meeting process and coordination of all IEPs at the high school. Maintains a system of tracking evaluations, re-evaluations, annual team meetings, and progress reporting following legally mandated timelines.Participates in weekly student-faculty assistance team meetings and the pre-referral process with regular education.Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents, and school issues.

Provides a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents, and the community. Performs responsibilities ethically and professionally. Oversees the Team Meeting process and adherence to Individual Education Plans based on eligibility guidelines and in accordance with Federal and State requirements; responsible for seeing that all timelines are met, and all required paperwork is completed.Demonstrates professional leadership within the department. Recognizes that student learning must be the focus of all school programs and activities.Provides leadership in articulation with other departments and schools.

Encourages professional growth among department staff. Encourages using instructional aids that have proven beneficial in helping students. Provides professional development for teachers focusing on district initiatives, including building academic vocabulary, formulating better questions, and developing formative assessments. Coordinates special education services for the school.Conducts regular monthly department meetings.

Meets regularly with teacher assistants to facilitate their success regarding assigned student and classroom duties.Assist teachers in the department in performing their teaching and related duties. Consults with special education staff and parents of special needs students as needed.Makes 688 referrals for students needing transitional planning to the appropriate human service agency and follows through on the planning process for post-graduation services.Works with building administration to monitor special needs students' disciplinary infractions and make referrals for functional behavioral assessments.Works cooperatively with the site administrator to prepare departmental assignments and schedules. Works cooperatively with the site administrator in hiring special education staff.Assigns liaisons for all special needs students and manages liaison caseload.Assist substitute teachers. Point person to coordinate services and transition with feeder schools.

Works in conjunction with the Middle School Team Chairperson to coordinate and chair 8th-grade student transition meetings.Attends regularly scheduled meetings with the Director of Student ServicesWorks in coordination with site administration regarding the department supply budget.Performs other related duties as assigned.SupervisionCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Districts policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
