What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Out of District Coordinator position at King Philip Regional School District?
Position Purpose
Assures the smooth operation of the Team Meeting process as required under state and federal laws and regulations as well as district protocols, procedures, and policies.
Essential Functions
Other duties may be assigned.
Implement all special education regulations
Serve as the Team Chairperson for all out-of-district placements
Write all out-of-district educational plans
Develop and monitor budget information for all out-of-district placements
Work on any and all special education projects as assigned
Meet bi-weekly with Special Education Coordinator
Participate in SFAT/SRC meetings
Meet with Superintendent as necessary
Coordinate transportation for all out-of-district students
Supervision
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the District’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and experience
Masters Degree in Special Education or related field. Three years experience as a Special
Education Teacher, School Psychologist, Adjustment Counselor, Social Worker preferred.
Valid Teaching Certificate, K-12 Certification or other related state license.
Knowledge Ability and Skills
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram of schedule form.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents and the general public.
