Description : Primary Function
The Director of Procurement manages high-value purchases and contracts while overseeing the supply chain. This role requires a strong focus on relationship management, ensuring customer needs are met efficiently and effectively while maintaining cost controls, quality standards, and timely delivery of materials or components. In addition to leading high-value procurement activities, this position will oversee key aspects of the supply chain process, including vendor management, inventory oversight, and cost optimization. The role requires leadership capabilities, contract knowledge, and strong negotiation skills.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee vendor relationships, ensuring favorable terms, on-time deliveries, and quality compliance.
- Source, negotiate, and procure materials, components, and services to meet production schedules.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers regarding procurement and supply chain-related needs and timelines.
- Collaborate with customers to understand supply chain requirements, resolve issues, and proactively address concerns.
- Provide key updates on the supply chain to customer service, sales, and key customers when necessary.
- Monitor supplier performance and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks or disruptions.
- Manage and optimize end-to-end supply chain processes, including procurement, inventory control, and logistics.
- Collaborate with production and planning teams to ensure material availability and align procurement strategies with production timelines.
- Implement best practices to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance supply chain visibility.
- Lead, coach, and develop a procurement and supply chain professional team to achieve operational excellence.
- Assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to company policies and objectives.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment focused on continuous improvement.
- Analyze supplier proposals, negotiate pricing, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
- Partner with quality teams to resolve discrepancies or defects in purchased goods.
- Drive initiatives to optimize inventory levels and improve cost efficiency without compromising production needs.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, logistics, and quality teams to align procurement and supply chain strategies with organizational goals.
- Communicate material constraints, changes, or risks to internal stakeholders to support proactive planning.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain and procurement processes.
- Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Prepare monthly reports for the senior management team on important metrics such as material pricing, freight analytics, market trends, etc.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and collaboration among production staff.
