What to Expect in the Role:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs to minimize workplace accidents and injuries.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide safety training and education to employees, including new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and specialized training sessions as needed.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, training activities, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with department managers to address safety concerns and implement effective solutions.
- Stay current on relevant regulations, codes, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with external agencies, such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), to facilitate inspections and resolve compliance issues.
- Participate in safety committees and meetings to discuss safety performance, initiatives, and goals. Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
What We Will Be Needing From You:
- Proven experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and influence employees at all levels of the organization.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate controls.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, OHST, CHST) is preferred but not required.
