JOB SUMMARY
-
The Anesthesia Technician is responsible and accountable for functioning as a team member for the primary purpose of contributing to the delivery of safe, effective and appropriate patient care. This position works in partnership with the RN and anesthesia care provider to ensure all supplies and equiment are available for the delivery of patient care.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
-
Stocks anesthesia workroom, stocks anesthesia carts on a daily basis according to par level, sets up latex-free anesthesia cart
inventories supplies as necessary ensuring that adequate supplies are available at all times, assures that supplies and equipment
needed for anesthesia are adequate and available for case load. -
Retrieves and cleans equipment, delivers stat requests in a timely manner

Assures proper adapters for pediatric/adult circuits
-
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to obtain anesthesia supplies and drugs (gases, equipment such as Bair Hugger, IV supplies,
blood warmers, cables, anesthesia gases, EKG leads and monitors, pulse oximeters, etc.) -
Stocks, maintains and cleans anesthesia machines in OR suites between cases and upon the last case of the day, changes circuits
and suction after each case. -
Replaces sharps box according to policy

Locates all stat supplies (malignant hyperthermia box, fiberoptic/emergency airway cart and crash cart)

Maintains current knowledge of products, their usage and variances affecting cost containment, researches and locates new,
requested or needed items for purchase, meets with sales representatives regarding items for use in anesthesia, controls costs of
supplies/equipment through efficient management of supplies and services, makes suggestion of new approaches to cost
containment

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum requirement:
-
Completion of Licensed Practical Nurse program
-
Must maintain Kentucky LPN license
-
Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
-

Preferred qualifications:
-
One year of OR scrub experience
-

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Constantly works near moving mechanical parts

Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.

Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
