JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Records Tech is expected to establish and maintain the medical records of the facility, both active and inactive, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
Assists nursing personnel with responsibility of maintaining medical records.
Evaluates records periodically.
Checks deficiencies on all records and assists in making corrections, such as obtaining histories and physicals
Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in general office procedures.
Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions, such as work processing, graphics, databases and spreadsheets.
Typing proficiency of 50-60 words per minute.
Ability to project positive professional and customer-service image.

Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: shift rotation, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in the nursing home, death, and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Occasional physical effort with light to medium objects. Occasionally required to lift objects of 10 to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
