Our client, an A rated leading insurance carrier, is looking to hire a Catastrophe Data Analyst. This pivotal role will support the company's strategic decision-making by providing critical data analysis and insights regarding catastrophic events. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in enhancing the carrier's capabilities to predict, quantify, and mitigate risks associated with natural disasters. This is a Hybrid position out of any of their regional offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data related to natural disasters and catastrophic events. Utilize advanced analytical techniques to model scenarios and predict outcomes.
- Risk Assessment: Work closely with the underwriting and claims teams to assess potential risks and impacts of catastrophic events on the company’s portfolio.
- Reporting: Develop and maintain reports that track and forecast trends in catastrophe data. Present findings to senior management to aid in strategic planning and decision-making.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with IT and data science teams to enhance data collection methods and analysis tools. Work closely with other analysts and stakeholders across the company to share insights and develop comprehensive strategies.
- Innovation: Continuously seek new data sources and analytical methods to improve accuracy and efficiency of catastrophe risk assessments. Stay updated with the latest developments in the field and integrate best practices into daily operations.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in data analysis, ideally within the Commercial Lines Insurance Industry.
- Experienced in developing predictive models to provide actionable insights for Underwriting and Claims decision-making
- Familiarity with the insurance industry’s standards and regulations regarding catastrophic risk.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with statistical analysis software and tools including SQL, R, Python, and GIS platforms like QGIS
- Familiarity with catastrophe modeling tools such as RiskLink or Touchstone.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Meteorology, or a related field.
