Our client, an A rated insurance carrier, is seeking to add a Senior Commercial Property Underwriting Consultant to their team. This role involves underwriting and pricing new and renewal shared and layered Commercial Property business primarily in the retail market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property underwriting with experience managing CAT (Catastrophe) exposure strategies. Working closely with producers, this position focuses on soliciting new business, managing renewals, and ensuring underwriting profitability across an assigned regional territory.
Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate individual risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions for complex shared and layered commercial property policies.
- Underwriting Decisions: Develop, analyze, and evaluate information to identify exposures and make informed underwriting decisions.
- Producer Engagement: Visit producers/brokers to build and maintain strong relationships, assisting in client retention and achieving mutual business growth.
- Performance Targets: Achieve established production and loss ratio targets within the assigned regional territory.
- Market Awareness: Maintain awareness of market trends and competitive landscape to drive new business opportunities in the retail property sector.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 - 7 years of experience in Commercial Property underwriting, with a focus on retail property environments.
- Underwriting Expertise: Must have experience underwriting shared/layered accounts and be proficient in CAT management strategies.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex risks.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build strong producer relationships.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $150,000 to $190,000 annual base salary, plus lucrative production bonus.
