Compensation : $100,000 - $125,000 annual salary depending on experience

Benefits : Competitive package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, 403(b) matching, Life and Disability benefits, PTO, Holiday Pay, Parental Leave, up to 85% King’s school tuition discount for dependent child(ren) K-12 POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Learning (DOL) will oversee and develop the design and implementation of the K-12 King’s Schools’ learning goals. These goals encompass the domains of curriculum and instruction, assessment, and faith integration. This role will meet the diverse learning needs represented in the King’s community and complement the diverse roles and teaching styles represented by staff. Primarily, the DOL will create authentically Christian learning experiences, where students are challenged to use their learning to serve the community and participate in God’s ultimate plan for redemption. The DOL will work with every faculty member to ensure that Biblical Integration is happening at all layers and in every component of our academic program, in order to fulfill our vision of an authentically and distinctive Christian education. Teaching a JH / HS elective course may be required at the direction of the Head of School. Reports directly to the Head of School. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES

1. Develop Framework for Biblically Based Education and Integrate Across the Curriculum :

Faculty Development :

  • Establish the framework for teaching and learning, training teachers on the framework while evaluating the strategic implementation for macro (3-5 years) and micro (6-12 months) learning initiatives.
  • Design and promote a culture of growth across our faculty.
  • Create faculty guidelines to train teachers on the framework for Biblical integration.
  • Equip and train Instructional Coaches with the tools to foster teacher growth in pedagogy and biblical integration.
  • Oversee and collaborate with building principals in departments and grade levels in developing and submitting scope and sequence.

Student Development :

  • Build and establish the curriculum to ensure the work is meaningful for students and provides learning support such as :
  • Enrich and extend knowledge through increased student engagement.
  • Foster learning centered classrooms to ensure students are inspired and motivated to learn, not just focusing on a grade.
  • Enhance education by encouraging critical thinking.
  • Improve spiritual growth by tying all objectives to specific pillars of Biblical integration.
  • Develop tools to measure and evaluate student success such as using learning targets related to the Redemptive story of the Gospel.
  • Identify structural requirements needed when student’s breakaway from the common structure of the classroom.
  • 2. Implementation : Training :

  • Train and evaluate teaching staff to ensure classroom curriculum, instruction and assessment are educating students with academic and biblical learning.
  • Train teachers and administrators how to create curriculums focused on the biblical framework while also creating ongoing strategies, empowering staff on how to utilize resources that support learning initiatives.
  • Work with Campus Pastor to educate and train teachers on how to successfully disciple students in a manner that is authentically Christian.
  • Plan and instruct intentional new methods for professional development with a focus on building new educational habits.
  • Train Principals and Head of School to equip staff with the knowledge and skills that are necessary to implement learning initiatives.
  • Collaboration :

  • Develop and maintain external professional relationships with other educators to learn from their programs within the broader learning leader community (WFIS, CESA, ACSI) so research and decisions can be made on what models will be implemented at Kings.
  • Use existing data and metrics from standardized testing results to lead discussions with professional learning communities, faculty teams and departments, regarding actions that will be taken that can lead to successful student learning goals.
  • Serve on ad hoc committees where appropriate.
  • 3. Continuous Improvement :

  • Coach staff on how to empower and engage students, help them set personal goals and find ways to connect personally instead of forcing them and causing disengagement.
  • Consult with teachers individually, setting goals according to the framework regarding the implementation of King’s learning initiatives.
  • Oversee and support planning of professional development sessions with teachers and outside speakers within Christian schools, collaborating on the primary goal for learning improvement, using an academic vision based on data that aligns with King’s.
  • Organize, manage, and lead professional development, setting agendas and implementing the framework with Learning Leaders, IT and Learning Committees.
  • Foster a culture of peer to peer learning and growth.
  • Oversee and collaborate with building principals on Professional Learning Communities.Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Instructional Coaches ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS CHRIST CENTERED

  • Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior
  • Is a committed Christian who is dedicated to continued spiritual growth and development as evidenced through a growing personal walk with God (e.g. daily spiritual rhythms of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc).
  • Prayerfully seeks God’s will in their own lives and in their ministry at CRISTA.
  • Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
  • Affirms, aligns with and supports CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
  • Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
  • Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
  • EDUCATION

  • Bachelors in Education from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.

  • LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

  • Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) certificate required if candidate does not have a state credential.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Education or Masters in Leadership or Theology or related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE

  • Five or more years as a classroom teacher. Three or more years in a leadership role in a school setting.
  • LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

  • Washington State Principal Credential, ACSI Leadership Certificate or equivalent.
