TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 12-months
JOB SUMMARY AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Position is responsible for assisting in providing departmental direction, strategic planning, leadership and management of the division's academic and administrative technology and information systems and services.
Degree in Information Technology or related field or specialized training and relevant certification(s); considerable experience leading a division-wide information technology program, preferably within a school district; demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement long-term and short-term IT program initiatives; experience managing budgets and grants; considerable project / program management experience; strong leadership, supervisory, interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, verbal and written communications skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
1. Provides leadership for short and long-term planning for all technology initiatives to include implementing established vision, goals, program objectives / strategies / activities; effectively managing infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting and collaboration with others; facilitates building level planning. Facilitate support for technology integration at the building level.
2. Plans, develops, and implements staff development activities
3. Works with instructional leaders to integrate technology in the ongoing instructional program for all curriculum areas by identifying strategies and material, and by implementing activities for integration.
4. Develops and updates the division Technology Plan and aligns it with the Virginia Technology Plan
5. Maintains the division's records.
6. Serves as a clearinghouse of information on trends, research, applications, and e?ective practices related to the use of technology in the school program and school system.
7. Supervises and performs the evaluation, acquisition, installation and maintenance of information and communications technologies.
8. Coordinates the purchase of equipment and supplies.
9. Serves as the contact for all service related technology communications.
10. Coordinates E-rate
11. Coordinates necessary preparations for online testing and distance learning services.
12. Manages daily operations of policy and budget development.
13. Manages information technology hardware and software for the division.
14. Coordinates hardware maintenance and updates.
15. Maintains and administers servers
16. Maintains and administers cloud services
17. Google Apps For Education Administrator
18. Coordinates all third party technology services
19. Manages security grant (SEGM)
21. Coordinates security systems, door access controls and surveillance equipment
22. Serves as representative to local and regional technology consortia.
23. Maintain District website and related technology services
24. Provide professional development to administrators and teachers in the area of specific technologies
25. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS :
The selected candidate must also abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations; attend meetings and performs additional duties as assigned by Division Superintendent or Assigned Supervisor; take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations; and serve on committees as assigned.
