Kingbrook Rural Water System, Inc. of Arlington, SD, has an opening for a System Distribution Operations Specialist. As of the date of employment, the applicant must reside within Kingbrook’s service area. Volga, Brookings, or Arlington, SD area preferred but negotiable. Example of Duties: operate and maintain the distribution facilities, including an assigned tower, booster pump station, and or pipeline; understand the operation and use of the SCADA System, Badger/Beacon Metering System, and GIS as well as other equipment; perform meter reading, repair, and annual maintenance, perform bill collections, discontinue member service or connect service to new members as required, obtain membership application and easements as required, look for evidence of system water leaks and repair the same, respond to customer needs, maintain and operate all equipment safely, maintenance and upkeep of assigned vehicle, maintain required records and reports.
Applicant will be expected to participate in an “on-call duty,” which is a rotating schedule to be on call approximately six to seven times per year outside regular duty hours, including weekends and holidays, so that the emergency needs of the members are met efficiently and promptly.
Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to obtain a Class I Water Distribution certification within 18 months and a Class I Water Treatment certification within 24 months of selection for this position. Class II Water Distribution and Class II Water Treatment certifications are required within 60 months of the hire date.
Applicant must be able to operate heavy equipment, including skid loaders, forklifts, utility tractors, and trailers. The applicant must be able to lift 70-plus pounds. One or more years of experience in the water field or similar work is preferred.

A starting base pay rate of $24.00 per hour. Higher wage based on work experience or water distribution experience, including certification, is negotiable.
