Canine Handler

Job Summary
We are seeking a few dedicated and compassionate Canine Handlers to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for caring for the dogs assigned to you, walking, feeding, and handling dogs in various settings. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and the ability to work effectively with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our canine companions while promoting a positive experience for our furry friends.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for dogs, including feeding and daily exercise.
• Handling dogs in basic obedience commands and socialization skills.
• Daily observation of the health and behavior of dogs, reporting any concerns to management.
• Assist with animal restraints during intake and releasing of animals entering and exiting the facility.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for both dogs and staff.
• Engage in heavy lifting as needed for dog handling and care tasks.
• Support pet grooming activities as required.
• Collaborate with staff and leadership when assistants to ensure comprehensive animal care.

Skills

• Proficient in animal handling techniques with a focus on safety and comfort.
• Experience in dog training or knowledge of training methods is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with pet care practices is a plus.
• Background in veterinary care or as a veterinary assistant is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of animal behavior and restraint techniques.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting related to animal care tasks.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and pet owners.
• A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
