Position Purpose:

The CBO Billing Supervisor assists CBO Billing Manager to plan, organize, coordinate, and control the systems by which patient's insurance billing information is developed, processed and maintained; ensures that the design of these systems provides for timely, courteous and accurate behavior of staff providing these services at all times; monitors and evaluates the quality of the billing team and assists with making improvements where they are needed.Key Responsibilities
· Supervises processes, systems, and staff responsible for Payer Enrollment with insurance plans.
· Performs Quality Control in all areas of billing and payer enrollment and works to ensure unbilled accounts are handled and moved through the financial process to help protect the organization’s financial interest
· Ensures staff receive comprehensive training and resources so that any errors are corrected prior to billing
· Maintains positive interaction with the staff and departments to advise and assist with the requirements for Patient Financial Services Billing Team
· Develops and revises job descriptions for the billing teams positions as needed; assists with the interviews, selection and hiring of new or replacement staff to fill approved positions
· Deals effectively, courteously and professionally with reporting staff, peers and superiors, as well as with patients and visitors
· Effectively utilizes positive reinforcement to motivate staff and instill confidence
· Effectively supervises employee improvement and corrective action methods when necessary
· Schedules work hours and assignments for employees of the billing team to meet the needs of the department’s customers
· Administers hospital and department policies and procedures
· Assists with the employee appraisals and personnel action requests
· Provides opportunities for self and staff development through orientation, in-services, education, and needed training; maintains professional qualifications and remains abreast of current developments and trends in billing and reimbursement processes
· Assists Billing Manager with regular staff meetings to provide communication, direction, and education
· Provides/coordinates community and education programs as needed
· Responds to physician requests, monitors the effectiveness of the billing team’s services, and maintains a rapport with the Medical Staff members and their office personnel
· Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the department
· Evaluates the billing team’s performance according to current industry principles in order to maintain and improve the level of service and results for the patient
· Bills claims to payers in the event of employee shortage or claims backlog
Required Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in insurance billing including electronic transmission of claims and one (1) year supervisory experience
Skills and Knowledge: Understanding of claims reimbursement; typing and computer experience; verbal and numerical intelligence; ability to interact with the public; ability to motivate people and utilize resources in an organized manner.
