Position Purpose:
Improves revenue results performing bill analyzer duties in regards to validation of billed charges for services and revenue leakage. This position helps improve charge capture by identifying the source of the leakage i.e.: department and systems and insure that we have claims that reflect accurate charges for reimbursement. This person will work with the specific hospital departments on the root cause of questionable missing charges and determine if the issues identified are current practice for our facility. This process will be accomplished by review of all UB04 billing documents.

Key Responsibilities
- Reporting problems to the Director and compiling concise records and documentation of all audits performed and impact to the revenue stream.
- This employee will work with software that will automate the issues, including compliant billing; RAC issues (Recovery Account Contractor) and provide guidance for charge master management.
- Charge Master Management will include responsibility for processing requests for the building and editing the hospitals charges with the master file.
- Will support the RAC functions as back up or when time allows.
- Performs analyses of the UB04 using the Bill Analyzer software and process the exceptions and issues that appear on a daily basis.
- Will perform weekly uploads of new bills for continual review.
- Works closely with the ancillary department and business office managers / staff in resolution of questionable Linked or add-on codes that are identified as missing.
- Assists in education and follow up with such staff in making sure that the issue is resolved and a part of their charge capture process for the future.
- Tracks and captures the results with Bill Analyzer reports and Excel spread sheets that list the missing link or other related issue, the reimbursement impact and the results of initiating rebilling to the appropriate insurance company to capture the payment.
- Other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable and experience with Hospital bill processing and insurance practices.
- HCPC/CPT/UB04 experience, modifiers, Medicare APC’s, and billing regulations required. Knowledgeable in UB04 revenue center proration’s to effectively work within the Charge Master file.
- Experience in reimbursement analysis, good written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology, Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task; Strong computer skills including Excel and the ability to interact positively with the public.
- Skills in researching and resolving problems, issues and ability to articulate audit findings. Able to perform work duties minimal supervision.
Preferences
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Some college preferred.
- Experience: Preferred three years of experience in healthcare setting related to Billing, Appeals or Denial Management; Paralegal; or related work experience.
