Summary/Objective
To maintain the district busses and vehicles in safe and operative condition.
Essential Functions

- Responds to all internal and external customers, as it relates to the position, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner
- Performs moderate to complex repairs on gasoline and diesel vehicles
- Identifies and indicates the need for parts for repair
- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance and keeps records of time, materials and parts utilized
- Overhauls and rebuilds engines, transmissions, differentials, brake systems and other major components by repair or replacement of parts
- Repairs and rebuilds generators, alternators and all other electrical components utilizing testing devices and machine equipment as required
- Performs minor body repair on vehicles
- Repairs and replaces seats, glass, sheet metal, latches, and other body components and assemblies
- Changes oil filters, installs anti-freeze, repairs tires, adjusts brakes, and lubricates chassis, wheel bearings, and other assemblies as required. Performs all required preventative maintenance and regular bus safety inspections
- Make roadside repairs as required
- Perform required state inspections; comply with all federal, state, county, and local regulations
- Cleans and maintains all tools and testing equipment
- Road or ground tests all repaired equipment
- Available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime
- Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations, and rules
- Performs related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
At-Will Notice of Employment does not provide a guarantee of a particular schedule of work or a minimum number of days or hours.
This is a 12-month, 40-hour per week position. This position is eligible for medical benefits. Employee will work eight hours per day Monday through Friday. Extended work hours to meet deadlines may occasionally be required.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years of automotive diesel mechanic experience preferred involving moderately complex repair and maintenance
- Satisfactory criminal background check
Preferred Education and Experience
- Knowledge in the use of vehicle testing equipment and technical manuals
Required Certifications/Licenses
Valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
