Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school. As a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for driving a school bus over designated routes, maintaining order among children on the bus, and performing general maintenance work.
Responsibilities
- Transportation: Drive a school bus daily over a designated route in conformity with an established time schedule, picking up and discharging school children.
- Safety and Order: Maintain order among children on the bus, following district policies regarding disciplining children, contact with parents, and other local school patrons.
- Maintenance: Clean, sweep, and wash the bus; load, unload, and drive the vehicle in delivering supplies and equipment; and service and make minor repairs on buses as required.
- Assistance: Assist mechanics, maintenance, and custodial workers in general maintenance and custodial work about school buildings and grounds.
Requirements
- Licenses: Valid California Driver's License Class A or B-P and a valid California Special Driver's Certificate for School Bus.
- Certifications: Valid DL-51 Medical Examination certificate and ability to pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, Department of Transportation physical, and MDE Basic Training Programs.
- Experience: One year experience in the operation of a motor vehicle.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions
The work environment is frequently loud, and employees may be required to work during hours of darkness. Employees must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with public and other workers. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud to where you have to raise your voice to be heard.
