URPOSE OF POSITION:
This class of positions encompasses professional and/or supervisory work of varying degrees of difficulty an responsibility in the operation of an activity therapy department providing medical/psychiatric recreational therapeutic services, in conjunction with other members of the treatment team.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Group Therapy interventions in the Inpatient Service
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the establishment and provision of comprehensive therapeutic activity program for the assigned unit(s). Coordinates posted unit activity schedule.
- Lead groups and individual treatment which allows patients opportunities for creative expression, activities to promote general health and fitness, activities to stimulate cognitive/social functions, and experiences designed to facilitate community reintegration, rehabilitation and recovery.
- Conducts individual assessments of patients' strengths and weakness to develop appropriate patient care interventions designed to meet patients' individual treatment plan goals.
- Is an active member of an interdisciplinary treatment team participating in the formulation of the individual patients' comprehensive treatment plan and writing appropriate input on treatment plan.
- Write regular progress notes on patients' behavior and response to treatment in accordance with agency and accrediting bodies standards.
- Attends and contributes to treatment team meetings, case conferences, department meetings and in service training.
- Prepare and maintain records, reports, statistics and quality assurance information.
- May be assigned to instruct and supervise students and volunteers.
- May be assigned to provide coverage to other service areas such as Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency or Partial Hospitalization Program
- Prepares supply requisitions and maintains equipment and supplies as designated, to ensure their safety and availability.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates an awareness of the organization's safety plan.
