JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for sustaining a sterile environment by disinfecting and cleaning patient rooms, offices, operating rooms and hallways throughout the Medical Center to provide an orderly and attractive environment. Operates equipment and machinery to maintain cleanliness.

Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
Operates electric floor machines and vacuums to clean and polish floors. Operates electric cleaning equipment to shampoo rugs, carpets, and furnishing.
Mix and use chemical striper to remove wax finishes from floors. Mix detergents, germicides, and cleaning solutions according to formulas.
Thoroughly clean and disinfect mattresses, bed frame, headboard, footboard, and bed springs to assure cleanliness of beds after every patient is discharged.
Terminally cleans Operating Rooms within the Medical Center by cleaning ceiling to floor. Responsible for scrubbing and flooding floors within each Operating Room.
Clean lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways. Mop floors, clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies. Dust furniture, air vents, cabinets, and patient furniture. Wash walls, window blinds, ceiling, woodwork, window sills, and door panels. Damp wipe and shine exterior glass.
Empty wastebaskets. Collect trash and waste and transport to collection area.
Stock cleaning carts and storage closets with cleaning supplies. Replenish bathroom supplies.

Minimum requirement:

Successful completion of Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Assessment.

One (1) to three (3) months related experience or training

Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.
Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Frequently required to move about throughout the department and facility.
Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
Occasionally required to operate a computer and other equipment.
Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
Frequently required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.
Constantly required to maintain a stationary position (stand).
Frequently required to position self in order to perform job. This includes stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
